    Problem:


    Sometimes you notice that something isn't quite right with the system. On my old computer, DAZ kept corrupting system files for some reason. The same thing keeps happening on my new computer—system files get corrupted. In one particularly severe instance, the issue prevented me from creating any new directories. Here are two potential solutions; while they usually help, they should be used with some caution:


    Solution:


    a) `sfc /scannow`: checks system files for errors and repairs them—provided the hidden backup copy is intact.

    b) Check the drive using `chkdsk`.
    c) If error messages appear, repair the drive using `chkdsk /f /r`.
    To do this, you must open the Command Prompt as an administrator:
    - type "CMD" into the search bar at the bottom, and then
    - select the "Run as administrator" option.

    Caution: Some parameters can cause the process to run for half a day or even a full day, during which time you will be unable to access Windows.
